Job Summary
The Fire Detection Design Engineer will design compliant fire detection systems tailored to Zambia’s environment. Designs must adhere to SANS 10139 or BS 5839 standards and meet Eng RB requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire alarm layouts and schematics using CAD software.
- Perform power and battery calculations to ensure resilience against load shedding (24–48 hours backup).
- Specify equipment supported in the SADC region (e.g., Ziton, Techno switch, Bosch).
- Coordinate with electrical contractors for proper conduit containment per ZS/IET Wiring Regulations.
Qualifications
- Mandatory: Registered Engineer (REng) or Technologist with EIZ and valid Eng RB Practicing Certificate.
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (UNZA, CBU, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of BS 5839 or SANS 10139 standards.
- 3–5 years’ experience in LV or Security Systems design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
